Having come so far, Michael reflected that this was about to become either the most expensive chair that he had ever bought (indirectly) - or the start of a beautiful product that could be found in many hifi-homes in the future.
Not only had we decided that we wanted to produce a prototype – but we also wanted one that was of such high quality and final feel that it would be good enough to display, for people to experience and based on that – to make you want to sign up for it and buy it.
What makes the Ballerina Sweetspot both light and impressive is the fact that its shell is no more than 5 mms thick, but is more than 75 cms wide, yet seems to float on quite light legs.
What makes it complicated is that this thin shell needs to be hard yet comfortable and not too rigid, and to incorporate a head rest that is height adjustable (and even removable).
But if you want to make the only fully purpose-made hifi-chair in the world, you have to set your sights high.
